Copenhagen AirportCopenhagen airport (CPH) is situated on Amager island, 8 km south from Copenhagen city centre in the township of Kastrup, Denmark. It was opened on 20 April 1925 as one of the first private airports in the world. It is now the biggest and the busiest airport in the Nordic countries. It is also the main international airport for Copenhagen, Denmark and the Øresund Region.

Copenhagen airport has 4 terminals. Terminal 1 is used for the domestic flights. Terminal 2 and 3 serve international routes (Schengen and non-Schengen). Terminal 3 is dedicated to all international arrivals. Since 31 October 2010, there is also CPH Go, a new concept of a terminal specifically assigned to increase airline efficiency by providing services to low-cost carriers only. At the moment, Easy Jet is the only airline serving from CPH Go. All terminals are connected with a free shuttle bus service.

The airport is used by almost 62,000 passengers daily. It gives 22,500,000 passengers each year. It is the main hub for Scandinavian Airlines as well as for Norwegian Air Shuttle and Thomas Cook Airlines Scandinavia. The airport manages 60 scheduled airlines and has a capacity to handle 83 loadings per hour. The airport has room for 108 planes and is owned and operated by Københavns Lufthavne. There are 1,700 employees working within Copenhagen airport.

Originally, the airport was called Kastrup Airport as it was located in small Kastrup town that is now a part of Tårnby municipality. Its official name remains Copenhagen Airport, Kastrup in order to differentiate it from the previously called Copenhagen Airport, Roskilde (now just Roskilde Airport).
